should not be used. Ultrasonic cleaners are usually safe. Since Tsavorite is
slightly brittle it should be mounted in a protected setting.

Uses
|
The hardness and durability of Tsavorite Garnet
makes it suitable for most types of jewelry. The high refractive index gives
this stone its brilliance and high lustre.

Alternatives

Although more rare than Emerald, both Chrome
Tourmaline and Tsavorite are more durable and less expensive than
Emerald. All three stones have a chromium component which produces the rich
"Emerald" green color.

|
This relatively rare stone is the most expensive
of all of the Garnets. The richness of the color also influences the value.
Most Tsavorites on the market are under one carat in size. Stones of one carat
