LAPIS LAZULI ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Color The color of Lapis Lazuli is a rich, Royal Blue.
Sources

Afganistan is the primary source of fine Lapis and has been for Centuries. In fact, the mines were visited as early as the twelfth Century by Marco Polo on his journies to China.

Treatment

Fine Lapis requires no treatment. Some, however require a blue dye to cover any white calcite present.

Care Lapis Lazuli is not a hard gemstone and easily loses its polish if subjected to any abrasion. For this reason Lapis should be mounted in a well protected setting.
Lore Lapis has been ground up to produce the rich Royal Blue paint used by great painters for their portraits of Royalty.
Uses Lapis is used for beads, pendants and well protected men's rings.
Value Fine, rich blue, natural Lapis is moderately expensive. An even distribution of gold flecks of pyrite adds value.
